Barton Group, Inc. (BGI) has been consulting on issues of packaging, supply chain management, and operations for over 20 years. In that time the firm has been retained by, and worked on projects for, many clients in the food industry including Dow Packaging, McDonald’s Corporation, McCormick & Co., KFC, Reckitt & Benckiser (The R.T. French Company Division), YUM!, Brand Aromatics and Tetra Pak.
Before establishing BGI, Lew Barton was the founder and CEO of Sigma Quality Foods, a producer of single-service condiment packets and other liquid food products for the Foodservice industry. SQF supplied major chain operators including McDonald’s, Burger King, Hardee’s, KFC as well as distributors in the foodservice market. SQF was acquired by Sugar Foods Corp. in 1990.
SQF also acted as a contract packager and in that role Barton produced products for companies such as Lipton, Campbell’s, Heinz, American Home Foods, Gorton’s of Gloucester, Morton Frozen Foods, Buitoni, General Foods, Domino Sugar, Heublein, French’s, and others.
BGI also has produced FOODSERVICE related business conferences such as the RETORT & ASEPTIC FOOD PACKAGING Conference.
Quick Stick™ Receipts
For quick service restaurants, Lew Barton developed Quick Stick™ Receipt Labels. These thermal-printed receipts stick directly to the product package or container, allowing restaurants to save money by using less preprinted packaging, make fewer errors, fill orders faster and increase customer satisfaction. The labels have an adhesive on one side, and the other side can be preprinted or custom-printed at the point of sale (POS). Labels securely adhere to cups, clamshells and bags, and can be cut to the exact length needed, further saving material and production costs.
Try On Pack
The Try On Pack is a packaging technology invented and patented by Lew Barton. The technology allows production of On Pack Premiums via a simple process utilizing minor modifications to standard form-fill-seal machines that results in a pouch with an integral collar loop. This required no additional parts or tape or anything else to loop the pouch over the neck of a bottle to provide the consumer with an on-pack premium when purchasing the intended product.
Lew developed this concept for a large vodka brand which used it to produce samples of a Bloody Mary mix, hanging around the neck of the vodka bottle.
